James Rossdale, Chairman of the Stamford Bridge Village Hall Committee, tells us how the committee and, ultimately, the local community have benefitted from HWRCC's support.

When it comes to photography, having been a professional for more than 35 years, I know a great deal and am confident that I know what to do in almost any situation. As for being Chair of the Stamford Bridge Village Hall Committee - well, less than a year in post has taught me just how much we need the help of organisations like the RCC to guide and support us. Despite having a very experienced and capable committee, each member is like me: he or she is highly competent in a narrow field. For instance, when it came to the legislation and equipment involved in developing a catering standard kitchen from the wreck we used to have, three years of debate and planning had not done the trick.

Once we became involved with HWRCC, the project went ahead smoothly and the kitchen was awarded full marks by the Environmental Inspector. Recent events at the hall have all taken full advantage of this shining new facility and the committee members are invigorated by this success.

I expect that we could have muddled through and eventually achieved it on our own, but why struggle on in glorious isolation when there is an organisation out there ready and willing to help by enabling shared expertise and support? Also, we paid our joining fee, went to an event and came away with information worth twenty times the value of what we had just laid out. Well, if that isn't a worthwhile investment, I don't know what is!
