Growing Greener Schools
Children from two local schools located in rural areas of East Yorkshire have taken part in phase 1 of the project. All activities cover elements of the curriculum for key stages 1 & 2 and covers a range of subjects such as Literacy, Numeracy, Environment and Art.
The children undertake a range of different activities in two themed zones.

Where our food comes from (food miles)
Locally produced food
Planting and growing
The role of nature in the garden
The second stage of the project involves the children's families and the water community.
Completion of a Growers Diary
Planting of seeds
Poster design to persuade others to 'grow their own'.
The final stage planned for September will be the development of a school vegetable plot and a recognition ceremony for the children who took part.
A key area of our work is supporting communities to become 'Greener', to minimise the effects of climate change. This project is funded by The Ernest Cook Trust
