The project co-ordinator will talk to you about your transport problems and identify possible solutions. If no suitable public/college transport exists, a scooter could, subject to certain terms and conditions being met, be made available for you to hire.
To be eligible to hire a scooter you would have to meet the following conditions:
- The daily journey must be a reasonable journey for a scooter (5 – 20 miles)
- No other forms of public or private transport should be available
- Transport must be required to access employment education and/or training
- You must live in North Lincolnshire or North East Lincolnshire
Candidates approved for the Scooter Hire Scheme will receive a scooter for
up to 26 weeks. Before being allowed a scooter they have to successfully
complete a Compulsory Basis Training course. Insurance, tax and servicing
are provided by the project.
It costs from £10 per week to hire a scooter. This covers general wear and
tear and minor repairs on the scooter.
If the scooter is stolen or damaged as a result of an accident or vandalism the
hirer is liable for a £250 insurance excess payment. If the scooter is stolen or
written of, the hirer is liable for up to £750
