Rural Community Buildings Advisory Service

There are approximately 260 rural community buildings in the East Riding of Yorkshire, North and North East Lincolnshire, and the majority of these are charitable trusts. The Village Hall Advisory Service supports the volunteer Trustees managing these buildings.

The Objectives

  • To provide Charitable Trustees with a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities and the current legislation
  • To offer support and information for individual governance issues
  • To provide publications and information to assist Charity Trustees with the management of their community building.

What we provide:

Through membership of HWRCC's Village Hall and Rural Community Building Membership Scheme, our trained advisor will help Committees in the following areas:

  • Funding information and application process
  • Assistance with hall/charity management
  • Access to specialist legal advice
  • Help with community consultation
  • Help with business planning
  • Information on legislation applicable to community buildings
  • Energy efficiency advice
  • Disabled access advice
  • A CD containing the full set of ACRE information sheets and any updates or additions to these along with access to model documents
