Community-Led Housing Workshops 2022

12th January 2022

Have you ever thought about providing affordable housing for residents in your community in housing need, or are you one of those in housing need and would like to be involved in rectifying that situation for yourself and others locally, by help to build affordable homes?

Then these Workshops will give you a clearer insight into how this can be achieved as a Community-Led Housing project.

The Workshop series kicks off with a general workshop on "What is Community-Led Housing?" This will give you a basis introduction to the topic, how it works and how you can be involved.

After that, the workshops follow the stages of Community-Led Housing development, namely:

  • Group - community involvement & development
  • Site - search and purchase/lease
  • Plan - design, Planning Permission, tendering for a build contract etc.
  • Building the homes
  • Live - managing and maintaining the homes built

As you can see, a community group taking on this challenge will be involved with all aspects of the process, culminating in the building of affordable homes in your community, in which residents will live.
