Grand opening of the newest Men in Sheds to open in the Beverley area of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The shed will officially open its doors on 28th November 2019. The shed is located at the Woodmansey Garden Centre, within Oldroyd’s corner.
The Beverley Men’s Shed is for men age over 18 years, living in the town and surrounding areas, who are experiencing social isolation, physical illness, disability, mental health issues, loneliness or just want to get out of the house and make things alongside other like-minded people.
The Shed will be led by the men who attend it, supported by HWRA, SPA (ERYC) and a network of volunteers, mentors, organisations and businesses. The “Shedders” will identify the types of activities they are most interested in and develop and grow around these themes.
The project aims to become “Shedder led” and sustainable through its own activities. This could include providing services (painting and decorating, gardening, bicycle maintenance, etc.) and selling products (upcycling unwanted items, wooden, metal, slate, cement, glass, rope products created etc.).
