HWRA supports and encourages rural communities to develop, so they can influence their own futures and secure a range of community facilities and services. The support we provide empowers and represents rural communities, building capacity, improving connectivity, developing healthier lifestyles and increasing economic activity, by building on existing resources and assets and delivering quality services which meet the needs of people, places and partners.

HWRA originally formed in 1975 as the rural community council working across North and North East Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. We are a member of the ACRE Network, England’s largest rural grouping of community support charities working together to address rural issues and supporting a wide range of community-led initiatives that encourage a culture of volunteering and mutual aid, reduce social isolation and loneliness, increase the supply of affordable housing, boost the local economy, and reduce impact on the environment.
